Born on May 22, 1961, in Bratislava, Slovakia, Griglák began playing the guitar at the age of eight and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. As a young musician, Griglák studied at the Bratislava Conservatory, where he was mentored by some of the most respected guitarists in Slovakia. He also attended master classes with renowned guitarists such as Julian Bream, John Williams, and Alirio Diaz, which helped him to refine his technique and develop his own unique style. In 1982, Griglák won first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Brno, Czechoslovakia, which marked the beginning of his career as a professional musician. He went on to win numerous other awards and accolades, including first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Kutna Hora, Czechoslovakia, in 1984, and first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Havana, Cuba, in 1985. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Griglák performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, earning a reputation as one of the most dynamic and engaging performers in the classical guitar world. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and has collaborated with many of the most respected musicians in the classical music world. In addition to his work as a performer, Griglák is also a respected teacher and mentor to young musicians. Griglák's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by some of the most celebrated composers in the classical guitar canon, including Francisco Tárrega, Fernando Sor, and Mauro Giuliani. He is also known for his interpretations of contemporary works by composers such as Leo Brouwer, Roland Dyens, and Carlo Domeniconi. One of Griglák's most notable performances was his 1991 concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where he performed a program of works by Bach, Giuliani, and Tárrega to critical acclaim. He has also performed at many other prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House.
