The piece is based on the short story of the same name by Italo Calvino and tells the story of a group of people who travel to the moon on a ladder made of moonbeams. Another notable work by Ippolito is his 2015 composition "Magnificat," which was commissioned by the Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
