Zsófia Boros is a Hungarian classical guitarist who has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and musicality. Born in Budapest in 1980, Boros began playing the guitar at the age of eight and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. She studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest and later at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where she received her diploma with honors. Boros has won numerous awards and competitions throughout her career, including first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Vienna in 2007 and the prestigious Parkening International Guitar Competition in 2011. She has also been a finalist in several other major competitions, including the Tokyo International Guitar Competition and the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. Boros has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, appearing at major festivals and concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. She has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including the conductor Iván Fischer, the cellist Miklós Perényi, and the pianist Dénes Várjon. Boros is known for her expressive and nuanced playing, which combines technical virtuosity with a deep understanding of the music she performs. She has a particular affinity for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, whose works she has recorded on several albums, including her critically acclaimed debut album, "Introducing Zsófia Boros," which was released in 2010. In addition to her solo career, Boros is also a dedicated chamber musician and has performed with various ensembles, including the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Keller Quartet. She is a member of the Trio Apollon, which she founded with the violinist László Paulik and the cellist István Várdai. Boros is also a passionate educator and has taught at several institutions, including the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She has given masterclasses and workshops around the world, sharing her knowledge and experience with aspiring guitarists.
