He was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known violinist in Bulgaria. From a young age, Kralev showed a great interest in music, and he began playing the piano at the age of six. Kralev's talent was quickly recognized, and he was accepted into the National School of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he studied under some of the most renowned music teachers in the country. He continued his studies at the State Academy of Music in Sofia, where he specialized in piano performance. After completing his studies, Kralev began his career as a concert pianist, performing in Bulgaria and other countries in Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and passionate performer, and his performances were praised for their technical skill and emotional depth. One of the highlights of Kralev's early career was his performance at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1970. He was one of only two Bulgarian pianists to be selected to compete in the prestigious competition, and he received high praise from the judges for his performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. Kralev continued to perform in concerts and competitions throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and he became known for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He also began to record his performances, and his recordings were widely praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. In 1989, Kralev was invited to perform at the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. His performance was a great success, and he received a standing ovation from the audience. This performance helped to establish Kralev as one of the leading pianists of his generation. Throughout his career, Kralev received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1991, he was awarded the Order of Cyril and Methodius, one of the highest honors in Bulgaria, for his contributions to Bulgarian culture. He was also awarded the Medal of Honor by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture in 2007. Kralev continued to perform and record throughout the 1990s and 2000s, and he remained a beloved figure in the world of classical music. He was known for his dedication to his craft, his passion for music, and his generosity towards other musicians. Sadly, Kralev passed away on December 31, 2011, at the age of 64. His death was a great loss to the world of classical music, but his legacy lives on through his recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to hear him perform.
