He was born into a family of musicians, and his father, Yuri Uryupin, was a well-known conductor in Russia. Valentin showed an interest in music from a young age and began playing the piano at the age of five. Valentin Uryupin received his early musical education at the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow, where he studied piano and conducting. He later continued his studies at the Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied conducting under the tutelage of Gennady Rozhdestvensky. In 2001, Valentin Uryupin made his debut as a conductor with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to conduct many of the leading orchestras in Russia, including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. In 2003, Valentin Uryupin won the prestigious All-Russian Conducting Competition, which helped to launch his international career. He went on to conduct many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic.
