He quickly gained a reputation as a talented pianist and composer, and his performances were highly sought after. He performed in many prestigious venues throughout Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. One of Woods' most notable performances was his debut at the Proms in 1955. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, with the London Symphony Orchestra.
