Twenty First Century Consort is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1975 by Christopher Kendall, a renowned conductor and music director. The ensemble is based in Washington, D.C., and is known for its innovative and contemporary approach to classical music. The main members of the ensemble include Christopher Kendall, who serves as the artistic director and conductor, and Lisa Emenheiser, who is the ensemble's pianist. Other members of the ensemble include Rachel Young, who plays the flute, David Jones, who plays the percussion, and Joseph Connell, who plays the clarinet. Over the years, Twenty First Century Consort has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the most renowned composers and musicians of our time, including John Harbison, Joan Tower, and Jennifer Higdon. One of the highlights of Twenty First Century Consort's career was their performance at the Kennedy Center in 1995, where they premiered a new work by composer John Harbison. The piece, titled "The Seven Ages," was a musical interpretation of Shakespeare's famous "All the world's a stage" monologue from "As You Like It."
