Jake Arditti is a British classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a countertenor. He was born on May 5, 1991, in London, England, to a family of musicians. His father was a professional pianist, and his mother was a singer. From a young age, Arditti was exposed to classical music and began singing in choirs. Arditti's talent for singing was evident from a young age, and he began taking voice lessons at the age of 12. He attended the Purcell School for Young Musicians, where he studied voice and piano. After completing his studies at the Purcell School, Arditti went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. During his time at the Royal Academy of Music, Arditti began to gain recognition as a countertenor. He won several awards, including the prestigious Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks Award for Singers and the Michael Oliver Prize for Counter-Tenor. He also performed in several productions, including Handel's "Rodelinda" and Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Arditti began to establish himself as a professional countertenor. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. He has also performed in some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and Carnegie Hall in New York. One of Arditti's most notable performances was his portrayal of the role of Oberon in Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2016. His performance was widely praised by critics, who noted his "effortless" and "mesmerizing" singing. Arditti has also made several recordings, including a critically acclaimed album of Handel arias titled "Handel: Heroes from the Shadows." The album features Arditti performing some of Handel's lesser-known arias, showcasing his ability to bring new life to old works. In addition to his work as a performer, Arditti is also a passionate advocate for music education. He has worked with several organizations to promote music education in schools and has given masterclasses to young singers.
