He was the youngest of three children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, so it was no surprise that Janos showed an interest in music from a young age. Janos began his musical education at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied violin and piano. He showed great promise as a musician and quickly became known for his exceptional talent. He was particularly interested in the works of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, and spent many hours studying their compositions. In 1970, Janos graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and began his professional career as a violinist. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young musicians in Hungary and was soon invited to perform with some of the country's most prestigious orchestras. One of Janos's most memorable performances was in 1972, when he performed Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. The performance was a huge success, and Janos received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. He was praised for his technical skill, musicality, and emotional depth. Over the next few years, Janos continued to perform with orchestras throughout Hungary and Europe. He also began to receive invitations to perform in other parts of the world, including the United States and Japan.
