He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. From a young age, Rabol showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He later learned to play the violin and the cello. Rabol's musical education began at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned musicians such as Maurice Maréchal and André Navarra. He graduated from the conservatory with top honors and went on to pursue a career in music. In 1948, Rabol made his debut as a soloist with the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Throughout his career, Rabol was known for his virtuosic performances and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of French composers such as Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Camille Saint-Saëns. One of Rabol's most memorable performances was his rendition of Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, which he performed with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Herbert von Karajan. The performance was hailed as a triumph, and Rabol received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to his solo performances, Rabol was also a sought-after chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Trio Pasquier, which was one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of the 20th century. The trio performed together for over 40 years and recorded numerous albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's complete piano trios. Throughout his career, Rabol received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1962, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of Ravel's Sonata for Violin and Cello. He was also awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, one of France's highest honors, in recognition of his achievements in music. Despite his success, Rabol remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to perform and teach until his death in 2004 at the age of 79.
