Szewczyk's compositions have been performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the Louisville Orchestra, the Miami Symphony Orchestra, and the Warsaw Philharmonic. He has also been commissioned to write works for various organizations, including the National Flute Association and the American Guild of Organists. One of Szewczyk's most notable works is his "Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra," which was premiered by the Louisville Orchestra in 2008. The piece showcases Szewczyk's ability to blend traditional classical music with contemporary elements, featuring a solo marimba accompanied by a full orchestra. Another notable work by Szewczyk is his "Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra," which was commissioned by the International Double Reed Society and premiered in 2014. The piece highlights the unique sound of the bassoon and features intricate melodies and harmonies. In addition to his orchestral works, Szewczyk has also composed chamber music, choral music, and solo pieces for various instruments. His "Sonata for Violin and Piano" is a popular choice among violinists, featuring complex rhythms and harmonies that challenge the performer.
