Role:PerformerBenjamin Richardson was born on May 12, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Richardson showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later picked up the cello at the age of eight and quickly became proficient in both instruments. Richardson attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under renowned cellist Steven Isserlis. During his time at the academy, Richardson won several awards, including the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Scholarship, which allowed him to study with cellist Yo-Yo Ma in the United States. After completing his studies, Richardson began his professional career as a cellist, performing with various orchestras and ensembles across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician, with a particular talent for interpreting the works of contemporary composers. One of Richardson's most notable performances came in 2010, when he performed the world premiere of composer Thomas Adès' cello concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra.
