The founding members of the ensemble were violinist and artistic director, Jana Semerádová, harpsichordist and organist, Jan Hajič, and cellist, Petr Skalka. They were later joined by other talented musicians, including flutist, Michaela Ambrožová, and violist, Jan Jouza. The ensemble's name, Hofmusici, is derived from the German word "Hofmusiker," which means court musician. This name reflects the ensemble's focus on performing music that was popular in the courts of Europe during the Baroque period. Hofmusici Baroque Ensemble has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals throughout Europe, including the Prague Spring Festival, the Festival de Musique Baroque de Pontoise in France, and the Festival de Música Antigua de Úbeda y Baeza in Spain. One of the highlights of the ensemble's career was their performance at the 2010 Prague Spring Festival, where they performed a program of Baroque music by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and Georg Philipp Telemann.
