Kelly Poukens is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself in the world of opera and concert singing. Born in Belgium in 1985, Poukens showed an early interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. She later discovered her love for singing and began studying voice at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Poukens' talent and dedication to her craft quickly became apparent, and she began to receive recognition for her performances. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Vocal Competition in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, which launched her career as a professional singer. Since then, Poukens has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and opera houses. She has worked with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Muti, and has collaborated with leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Poukens' most notable performances was her portrayal of the title role in Richard Strauss' opera Salome at the Royal Opera House in London in 2018. Her performance was widely praised by critics, who noted her powerful voice and dramatic presence on stage. Poukens has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2010, she was named a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world.
