Volkhard Steude is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born in Germany, Steude showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was born on August 22, 1965, in the city of Bremen, Germany. Steude's parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. He received his first violin lessons from his mother, who was a violin teacher. Steude's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly progressed in his studies. At the age of 12, Steude was accepted into the prestigious Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany. He studied under the guidance of renowned violinist and pedagogue, Tibor Varga. After completing his studies in Hannover, Steude went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. Steude's time at Juilliard was a formative experience, and he credits DeLay with shaping his approach to music. Steude's career as a professional musician began in earnest in the early 1990s. He joined the New York Philharmonic as a member of the first violin section in 1992. Steude quickly established himself as a talented and versatile musician, and he was soon promoted to the position of assistant concertmaster. Steude's time with the New York Philharmonic was marked by numerous highlights. He performed as a soloist with the orchestra on several occasions, including a performance of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K. 219, in 1997. Steude also served as concertmaster for the orchestra's performances of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 in C minor, "Resurrection," in 1998. In addition to his work with the New York Philharmonic, Steude has also performed with numerous other orchestras and ensembles. He has served as concertmaster for the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra, and the New York City Opera Orchestra, among others. Steude's talent and dedication to his craft have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 1991, he was awarded the Tibor Varga Prize at the International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland. He was also a prize winner at the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis in 1994. In addition to his work as a performer, Steude is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has served on the faculty of the Mannes College of Music in New York City and the University of North Texas. He has also given masterclasses and workshops around the world, sharing his knowledge and expertise with aspiring musicians.
