The Amadeus Chamber Singers is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their beautiful harmonies and impeccable performances for over three decades. Founded in 1985 by conductor and music director, Dr. Frank Nemhauser, the ensemble has become one of the most respected and sought-after choral groups in the United States. Dr. Nemhauser, a renowned conductor and music educator, had a vision of creating a chamber choir that would perform a wide range of choral music, from the Renaissance to contemporary works. He handpicked a group of talented singers from the greater Rochester, New York area, and the Amadeus Chamber Singers was born. The ensemble's name was inspired by the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose music has been a staple of the group's repertoire since its inception. The Amadeus Chamber Singers quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional musicianship and their ability to perform challenging works with ease. Over the years, the ensemble has had a rotating cast of members, but some of the core members have been with the group for many years. These include sopranos Mary Wojciechowski and Susan Cotroneo, altos Mary Ann Miano and Mary Ann Valone, tenors David DeMott and David Kobernat, and basses David Knauss and David Seiler. The Amadeus Chamber Singers have performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. They have also toured internationally, performing in Europe and Asia. One of the highlights of the ensemble's career was their performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The Amadeus Chamber Singers were selected to perform at the opening ceremony, where they sang the national anthem and other patriotic songs. The performance was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world, and it was a proud moment for the ensemble and their director.
