The Wang-Rodgers Piano Duo is a classical music ensemble consisting of pianists Annie Yim and Chi-Chen Wu. The duo was founded in 2004 and has since become one of the most renowned piano duos in the world. Annie Yim and Chi-Chen Wu first met while studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. They quickly discovered a shared passion for piano duet repertoire and began performing together. In 2004, they officially formed the Wang-Rodgers Piano Duo, named after their respective teachers, Peter Katin and Christopher Elton. Since its founding, the Wang-Rodgers Piano Duo has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. They have appeared at prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Lincoln Center in New York, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei. The duo has also been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts, including BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. One of the highlights of the Wang-Rodgers Piano Duo's career was their performance at the 2012 London Olympics. They were selected to perform at the Olympic Village as part of the Cultural Olympiad, which showcased the best of British culture to athletes and visitors from around the world. The duo has also received numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 2006, they won the prestigious Royal Overseas League Ensemble Competition, which led to a tour of South Africa. They were also finalists in the 2008 International Piano Duo Competition in Tokyo and the 2010 Ellis Duo Piano Competition in the United States. In addition to their performances, the Wang-Rodgers Piano Duo is committed to promoting the piano duet repertoire and commissioning new works. They have premiered several new pieces by contemporary composers, including a work by British composer Michael Nyman. The duo has also released several recordings, including their debut album, "Dances and Delights," which features works by Brahms, Ravel, and Piazzolla. Their second album, "Echoes of China," explores the rich tradition of Chinese folk music and features arrangements of traditional melodies for piano duet. Annie Yim and Chi-Chen Wu are both accomplished pianists in their own right. Annie Yim has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She is also the founder and artistic director of MusicArt London, a non-profit organization that promotes interdisciplinary collaborations between musicians and visual artists. Chi-Chen Wu has won numerous awards and competitions, including the Taiwan National Piano Competition and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Taipei Symphony Orchestra and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra. Together, Annie Yim and Chi-Chen Wu form a dynamic and virtuosic duo that has captivated audiences around the world.
