David Gresham was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Gresham showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Gresham's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking formal piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. In addition to his performances, Gresham has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas. He has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Gramophone Award for Best Instrumental Recording in 2010.
