Bohdan Hilash was born on May 15, 1985, in Lviv, Ukraine. From a young age, he showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of six. His parents, both musicians themselves, recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue his passion. Hilash's early years were spent studying at the Lviv Music School, where he received a solid foundation in classical piano technique. He quickly distinguished himself as a gifted performer, winning numerous local and regional competitions. In 2001, he was awarded first prize at the International Piano Competition in Krakow, Poland, which marked the beginning of his international career. Over the next few years, Hilash continued to hone his skills and gain recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. He studied at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy in Kiev, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. He then went on to earn a Master's degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium, where he studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue, Maria João Pires. Throughout his studies, Hilash continued to perform extensively, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He made his debut with the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra in 2004, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. The performance was a resounding success, and Hilash was invited back to perform with the orchestra on several occasions. In 2007, Hilash won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Santander, Spain, which further cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. He went on to win several other prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Rome in 2009 and the First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Moscow in 2011. Hilash's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works by composers from Bach to Ligeti. He is particularly known for his interpretations of Chopin, and has been praised for his ability to bring out the emotional depth and lyricism of the composer's music. He has also championed the works of lesser-known composers, such as the Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk, whose music he has performed and recorded. In addition to his performing career, Hilash is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses in Ukraine, Belgium, and Italy, and has served as a jury member for several international piano competitions. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians, and is committed to promoting classical music in his home country of Ukraine. Hilash's most recent performances include a recital at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where he performed works by Chopin, Schumann, and Skoryk to critical acclaim. He has also performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Brussels Philharmonic, and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, among others. Despite his many accomplishments, Hilash remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He is constantly striving to improve his playing and to deepen his understanding of the music he performs. His passion for music is infectious, and he has inspired countless young musicians to pursue their own dreams of becoming professional musicians. In conclusion, Bohdan Hilash is a gifted pianist and musician who has made a significant impact on the classical music world.More....
