Raymond Pellerin was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1939, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was the youngest of four children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, and they both encouraged their children to pursue music. Pellerin began his musical journey at the age of six when he started taking piano lessons. He showed exceptional talent and quickly progressed, and by the age of 12, he had already won several local competitions. He continued to study piano throughout his teenage years and eventually decided to pursue a career in music. In 1957, Pellerin enrolled at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, where he studied under the tutelage of Yvonne Hubert. He excelled in his studies and won several awards, including the Prix d'Europe in 1962, which allowed him to study in Europe for two years. During his time in Europe, Pellerin studied with some of the most renowned pianists of the time, including Wilhelm Kempff and Claudio Arrau. He also performed in several major European cities, including Paris, London, and Berlin, and received critical acclaim for his performances. Upon his return to Canada in 1964, Pellerin began his career as a concert pianist. He quickly established himself as one of the leading pianists in the country and performed with several major orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. One of Pellerin's most significant performances was his debut with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in 1965, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5.
