Artyom Manukyan is a renowned cellist, composer, and producer who has made a significant impact on the world of classical music. Born on December 22, 1984, in Yerevan, Armenia, Manukyan grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a composer, and his mother was a pianist, which exposed him to music at a young age. Manukyan began playing the cello at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied at the Tchaikovsky Music School in Yerevan and later at the Komitas State Conservatory, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in cello performance. In 2006, Manukyan moved to the United States to further his studies at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. He studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist Ralph Kirshbaum and earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts in cello performance in 2013. Throughout his career, Manukyan has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl. He has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians, including Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea. Manukyan has also received numerous awards and accolades for his work. In 2010, he won the Grand Prize at the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition, and in 2011, he was awarded the Thornton School of Music's Outstanding Doctoral Graduate Award. In 2017, he was named a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for his composition "The Last Battle." In addition to his work as a performer, Manukyan is also an accomplished composer and producer. He has composed music for film and television, including the score for the award-winning documentary "The Other Side of Home." He has also produced and released several albums, including his debut album "Citizen," which was released in 2018. Manukyan's music is known for its unique blend of classical, jazz, and Armenian folk influences.
