Tanja Kauppinen-Savijoki is a Finnish classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented cellist and chamber musician. Born on May 5, 1985, in Helsinki, Finland, Tanja grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a cellist, and her mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that Tanja would develop a love for music at a young age. Tanja began playing the cello when she was just six years old, and she quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in cello performance. During her studies, Tanja had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned cellists in the world, including Arto Noras, Frans Helmerson, and Anssi Karttunen. After completing her studies, Tanja began her professional career as a cellist. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented musician, and she was invited to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras in Finland, including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. She also performed as a soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her work as a soloist, Tanja is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with some of the most renowned chamber music ensembles in Finland, including the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra and the Tapiola Sinfonietta. She has also collaborated with many other musicians, including pianist Paavali Jumppanen and violinist Pekka Kuusisto. One of the highlights of Tanja's career was her performance at the 2010 Helsinki Festival. She performed as a soloist with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, playing the cello concerto by Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara. The performance was a huge success, and it earned Tanja critical acclaim and a standing ovation from the audience. Tanja has also received many awards and honors throughout her career. In 2007, she won the first prize in the Turku Cello Competition, and in 2009, she was awarded the prestigious Pro Musica Foundation Prize. She has also been a recipient of the Finnish Cultural Foundation's grant for young artists. In addition to her work as a performer, Tanja is also a dedicated teacher.
