William Riley was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Riley showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Riley's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Riley developed a deep understanding of classical music and honed his skills as a pianist. At the age of 12, Riley made his debut performance at Carnegie Hall, playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major. The performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Riley's career as a professional musician. Over the years, Riley continued to perform at various prestigious venues around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. He also collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Riley's most memorable performances was his rendition of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, also known as the "Moonlight Sonata." The performance took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and it was hailed as a masterpiece by critics and audiences alike. In addition to his performances, Riley also received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. He won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, and he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2007. Despite his success, Riley remained humble and dedicated to his craft.
