James Bunte is a renowned classical saxophonist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born in 1969 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bunte grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist. Bunte started playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and quickly developed a passion for the instrument. Bunte's talent was evident from an early age, and he began performing in public at the age of 12. He went on to study music at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in saxophone performance. He then went on to earn a Master of Music degree from Indiana University, where he studied with renowned saxophonist Eugene Rousseau. Bunte's career as a professional musician began in the early 1990s when he joined the United States Air Force Band of Flight. He served as the band's principal saxophonist for four years and performed throughout the United States and Europe. During his time in the Air Force Band, Bunte also earned a Master of Arts degree in music from the University of Dayton. After leaving the Air Force Band, Bunte began performing as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed at major music festivals, including the World Saxophone Congress and the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference. Bunte is also an accomplished educator and has taught at several universities, including the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the University of Dayton, and Wright State University. He is currently a professor of saxophone at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Throughout his career, Bunte has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 1993, he won first prize in the National Saxophone Competition, and in 1994, he won the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition. He has also been a finalist in the Concert Artists Guild Competition and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Bunte has recorded several albums, including "The Saxophone Music of David Maslanka" and "The Saxophone Music of Robert Ward." He has also published several articles on saxophone performance and pedagogy. In addition to his work as a musician and educator, Bunte is also a dedicated advocate for the saxophone. He has served as the president of the North American Saxophone Alliance and has worked to promote the saxophone as a serious instrument in the world of classical music.
