Vanina Ivanova is a Bulgarian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and musicality. Born on May 5, 1989, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ivanova showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, both music teachers, recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Ivanova's early musical education was at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, where she studied with renowned Bulgarian pianist and pedagogue, Prof. Stella Dimitrova-Maistorova. She continued her studies at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Piano Performance under the guidance of Prof. Milena Mollova. During her studies, Ivanova participated in numerous national and international competitions, winning top prizes in many of them. In 2006, she won first prize at the National Competition for Young Pianists "Svetoslav Obretenov" in Provadia, Bulgaria. In 2008, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Young Virtuosos" in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2010, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Italy. These awards helped to establish Ivanova as a rising star in the classical music world. After completing her studies in Bulgaria, Ivanova continued her education at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where she studied with Prof. Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Prof. Tamara Stefanovich. She also participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as András Schiff, Murray Perahia, and Richard Goode. Ivanova's international career began to take off in 2012 when she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Cidade do Fundão" in Portugal. This led to numerous concert engagements throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. She has performed in prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Salle Cortot Paris, the Palau de la Música Catalana Barcelona, the Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid, the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, the Sala São Paulo, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. Ivanova has collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, Andris Nelsons, Fabio Luisi, and Vladimir Jurowski. She has also performed with leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Argentina. Ivanova's repertoire is vast and diverse, ranging from Bach to contemporary music. She has a particular affinity for the music of Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, and Bartók. She has also premiered works by contemporary composers such as Jörg Widmann, Johannes Maria Staud, and Georg Friedrich Haas. In addition to her solo career, Ivanova is also an avid chamber musician. She has collaborated with many distinguished musicians, including cellist Gautier Capuçon, violinist Renaud Capuçon, clarinetist Martin Fröst, and soprano Diana Damrau.
