Born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1978, Zuckermann grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Pinchas Zuckermann, was a violinist and conductor, and his mother, Tamar, was a pianist. From a young age, Zuckermann was exposed to classical music and began playing the flute at the age of six. Zuckermann's talent as a flutist was quickly recognized, and he began performing in public at the age of eight. He went on to study at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music, where he was mentored by renowned flutist Uri Shoham. After completing his studies in Israel, Zuckermann moved to Germany to continue his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. In 2001, Zuckermann won first prize at the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich, which launched his career as a soloist. He has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In addition to his work as a flutist, Zuckermann has also established himself as a conductor. He has served as the principal conductor of the Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonie Südwestfalen in Germany. He has also guest conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestre National de France. One of Zuckermann's most notable performances as a conductor was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2011. The Berliner Zeitung praised Zuckermann's "precise and nuanced conducting" and his ability to "bring out the best in the orchestra." Zuckermann has also been recognized for his work as a conductor. In 2012, he was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Award by the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, which recognizes young conductors who show exceptional promise.
