Júlia Gábor is a Hungarian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented pianist and chamber musician. Born on May 22, 1985, in Budapest, Hungary, Gábor showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents, who were both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Gábor's early musical education was at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Katalin Nemes. She later went on to study at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. During her time at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Gábor had the opportunity to work with some of the most distinguished musicians in the world, including Zoltán Kocsis, András Schiff, and Ferenc Rados. She also participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Murray Perahia, Emanuel Ax, and Richard Goode. Gábor's talent and hard work paid off when she won several prestigious awards and competitions. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, and in 2008, she won the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Budapest. She also won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship in 2009, which allowed her to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Gábor's career as a professional musician began to take off after she won the 2010 International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, Austria. This competition is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world, and winning it was a major achievement for Gábor. Her performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488, was praised by the judges for its technical brilliance and musical sensitivity. Since then, Gábor has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also performed with some of the most renowned orchestras in Europe, including the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra. Gábor's repertoire is diverse and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Schumann. She is particularly known for her interpretations of Mozart's piano works, which she has performed extensively throughout her career. In addition to her solo performances, Gábor is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with some of the most distinguished musicians in the world, including violinist Joshua Bell, cellist Steven Isserlis, and clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer. She is a member of the Gábor Trio, which she formed with her sister, violinist Katalin Gábor, and cellist Péter Somogyi. Gábor's recordings have received critical acclaim and have been praised for their technical brilliance and musical sensitivity. Her recording of Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 20 and 23 with the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra was released in 2011 and received the Diapason d'Or award. Her recording of Schumann's Piano Quintet with the Gábor Trio was released in 2015 and was praised by Gramophone magazine for its "exquisite playing and sensitive interpretation." Gábor is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at several music schools and universities in Europe.
