Role:PerformerHarvey Fierstein is a renowned American actor, playwright, and voice actor, who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on June 6, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York, Fierstein grew up in a Jewish family and was raised by his mother, Jacqueline Harriet Fierstein, after his father passed away when he was just 13 years old. Fierstein's love for music began at a young age, and he started playing the piano when he was just six years old. He later learned to play the guitar and the drums, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already started performing in local bands. However, it was his passion for theater that eventually led him to pursue a career in the arts. In 1976, Fierstein made his Broadway debut in the musical "The Haunted Host," which was followed by his breakout role in the hit musical "La Cage aux Folles" in 1983. Fierstein played the role of Albin, a drag queen, and his performance earned him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He went on to star in several other Broadway productions, including "Torch Song Trilogy," which he also wrote, and "Hairspray," for which he won another Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Aside from his work in theater, Fierstein has also made significant contributions to the world of classical music. He has written several musicals, including "A Catered Affair," which premiered on Broadway in 2008, and "Newsies," which was adapted into a hit Disney film in 1992. Fierstein has also written the book for the musical "Kinky Boots," which won six Tony Awards in 2013, including Best Musical. In addition to his work as a writer and actor, Fierstein is also a talented voice actor. He has lent his voice to several animated films, including "Mulan," "The Simpsons," and "Family Guy." He has also narrated several audiobooks, including "The Sissy Duckling," which he also wrote. Throughout his career, Fierstein has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the arts. In addition to his two Tony Awards, he has also won several Drama Desk Awards, an Obie Award, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for "Hairspray." Despite his success, Fierstein has remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to write, act, and perform, and his contributions to the world of classical music have inspired countless artists and audiences around the world.More....
