Role:PerformerIvars Rebhūns was born on May 12, 1985, in Riga, Latvia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a professional violinist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Rebhūns showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Rebhūns received his early musical education at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School in Riga, where he studied under the guidance of renowned violinist and pedagogue, Professor Valdis Zariņš. He later continued his studies at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. During his studies, Rebhūns participated in numerous international competitions and masterclasses, where he received guidance from some of the world's most renowned violinists, including Maxim Vengerov, Shlomo Mintz, and Zakhar Bron. His talent and dedication to his craft were quickly recognized, and he began to receive invitations to perform at major music festivals and concert halls around the world. One of Rebhūns' most notable performances was at the 2008 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, where he was awarded the prestigious Silver Medal. His performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major was praised by the judges and audience alike for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Rebhūns has also performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors of our time, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Valery Gergiev. In addition to his solo career, Rebhūns is also an active chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. He is also a founding member of the Rebhūns Quartet, which has received critical acclaim for its innovative programming and virtuosic performances. Rebhūns' dedication to his craft has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In addition to his Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition, he has received the Grand Prix at the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis and the First Prize at the International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland.
