Liat Cohen is a renowned classical guitarist and musician who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born in Israel in 1973, Cohen began playing the guitar at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, where she received her Bachelor's degree in music. After completing her studies, Cohen moved to Paris to continue her musical education. She studied under the tutelage of renowned guitarists such as Alberto Ponce and Roland Dyens, and also took classes in musicology and chamber music. During this time, Cohen began to establish herself as a performer, playing in concerts and festivals throughout Europe. Cohen's talent and dedication to her craft soon began to pay off. In 1995, she won first prize at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America competition, which helped to launch her career as a soloist. She went on to perform in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Cohen's performances are known for their technical precision and emotional depth. She has a particular affinity for the music of Spanish and Latin American composers, and has recorded several albums featuring their works. Her 2009 album, "Concierto de Aranjuez," which features the famous guitar concerto by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo, received critical acclaim and helped to cement her reputation as one of the world's leading classical guitarists. In addition to her solo work, Cohen is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with a number of renowned musicians, including cellist Gautier Capuçon and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Together, they have performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. Cohen's dedication to her craft has not gone unnoticed. In addition to her win at the Guitar Foundation of America competition, she has received numerous other awards and honors throughout her career. In 2005, she was awarded the prestigious French award, the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, in recognition of her contributions to the arts. She has also been a guest lecturer at several universities and conservatories, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Despite her success, Cohen remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and record, and is always seeking new ways to challenge herself and grow as a musician.
