He was the son of a schoolteacher and grew up in a musical family. His father played the organ and his mother sang in the church choir. Sjöberg began playing the piano at a young age and showed a talent for music. Sjöberg studied at the University of Uppsala, where he earned a degree in philosophy. He also studied music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher and journalist. He wrote poetry and composed music in his spare time. Sjöberg's most famous work is the song "Visa från utanmyra" (Song from Utanmyra), which he wrote in 1920. The song is a melancholy ballad about lost love and has become a classic in Swedish music. It has been recorded by many artists, including Monica Zetterlund and Jan Johansson. Sjöberg's other compositions include songs, piano pieces, and chamber music. He was influenced by Swedish folk music and often incorporated folk melodies into his compositions. His music is characterized by its simplicity and emotional depth. Sjöberg's poetry is also highly regarded in Sweden. His poems often deal with themes of love, nature, and death. He published several collections of poetry, including "Fridas bok" (Frida's Book) and "Kärlek och andra dikter" (Love and Other Poems). Sjöberg died on April 1, 1951, in Stockholm, Sweden.
