Ah Young Sung is a renowned classical music artist who has captivated audiences around the world with her exceptional talent and passion for music. Born in South Korea in 1987, Ah Young Sung showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Ah Young Sung's musical journey began in earnest when she enrolled at the Yewon School, a prestigious music school in Seoul, at the age of ten. There, she received rigorous training in piano performance and music theory, and quickly established herself as a rising star in the classical music world. She went on to study at the Seoul Arts High School, where she continued to hone her skills and develop her unique style. In 2006, Ah Young Sung moved to the United States to attend the Juilliard School in New York City, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. There, she studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky, and quickly established herself as one of the school's most promising students. She graduated from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2010, and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Yale School of Music. Throughout her studies, Ah Young Sung distinguished herself as a gifted pianist with a deep understanding of classical music. She won numerous awards and accolades for her performances, including the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in 2008, the New York International Piano Competition in 2009, and the Yale Woolsey Hall Concerto Competition in 2012. Ah Young Sung's talent and dedication to her craft have led to numerous opportunities to perform on some of the world's most prestigious stages. She has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. She has also performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Hall in New York City, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of Ah Young Sung's most memorable performances was her debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2011, where she performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 under the baton of conductor Alan Gilbert. The performance was widely praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, and cemented Ah Young Sung's reputation as one of the most talented pianists of her generation. In addition to her performances, Ah Young Sung is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. She has taught at the Yale School of Music and the Juilliard School, and has given masterclasses and workshops around the world. She is passionate about sharing her love of music with others, and believes that music has the power to inspire and transform lives. Ah Young Sung's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In addition to the awards mentioned above, she has also been awarded the Arthur Rubinstein Prize, the Van Cliburn Prize, and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. She was also named a Gilmore Young Artist in 2014, an honor that recognizes exceptional young pianists who show great promise for the future. Despite her many accomplishments, Ah Young Sung remains humble and focused on her music.
