They began writing songs together and formed a romantic relationship. After The Tourists disbanded in 1980, Lennox and Stewart decided to form their own band, which they named Eurythmics. Eurythmics released their debut album, "In the Garden," in 1981. The album was not a commercial success, but it received critical acclaim for its experimental sound. The duo's breakthrough came in 1983 with the release of their second album, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)." The album's title track became a worldwide hit and reached number one on the charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. Eurythmics continued to release successful albums throughout the 1980s, including "Touch" (1983), "Be Yourself Tonight" (1985), and "Savage" (1987). Eurythmics took a hiatus in the early 1990s as Lennox pursued a solo career and Stewart worked as a producer for other artists. The duo reunited in 1999 to release their eighth and final studio album, "Peace." The album received mixed reviews and was not a commercial success. Throughout their career, Eurythmics was known for their socially conscious lyrics and their support of various humanitarian causes.
