Artist Info

Quatuor Cambini Paris is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences around the world with their exceptional performances. The ensemble was founded in 2007 by four talented musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to explore the rich repertoire of string quartets from the classical and early romantic periods. The founding members of Quatuor Cambini Paris were Julien Chauvin (violin), Karine Crocquenoy (violin), Pierre-Éric Nimylowycz (viola), and Atsushi Sakaï (cello). All four musicians had extensive experience performing with other ensembles and orchestras before coming together to form Quatuor Cambini Paris. The ensemble takes its name from the French violinist and composer Giuseppe Cambini (1746-1825), who was a prominent figure in the development of the string quartet genre. Quatuor Cambini Paris is dedicated to exploring the works of Cambini and other composers from the classical and early romantic periods, with a particular focus on the music of the French Revolution era. One of the highlights of Quatuor Cambini Paris's career was their performance at the 2012 Festival de Saintes in France, where they presented a program of string quartets by Haydn, Mozart, and Cambini. The ensemble's dynamic and expressive playing was praised by critics and audiences alike, and they were invited back to the festival in 2014 to perform a program of Beethoven quartets. In addition to their performances at major festivals and concert halls around the world, Quatuor Cambini Paris has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Quatuors parisiens," features works by Cambini, Boccherini, and Gossec, and was praised by Gramophone magazine for its "sparkling performances" and "impeccable ensemble playing." Quatuor Cambini Paris has also been recognized with several prestigious awards and honors. In 2011, they were awarded the Prix Bettencourt Schueller for their contributions to the revival of French classical music. The following year, they received the Diapason d'Or award for their recording of Haydn's Op. 33 quartets. Despite their success, Quatuor Cambini Paris remains committed to their mission of exploring and promoting the rich repertoire of string quartets from the classical and early romantic periods. Their passion for this music is evident in every performance, and they continue to inspire audiences around the world with their exceptional musicianship and artistry.
