Mary Zelnicki was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Mary showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Mary's love for music only intensified. She began studying the violin at the age of eight and quickly became proficient in the instrument. By the time she was a teenager, Mary was already performing in local orchestras and winning awards for her musical abilities. After graduating from high school, Mary attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world. During her time at Juilliard, Mary honed her skills and developed a unique style that would set her apart from other classical musicians. In 2007, Mary made her debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. The performance was a huge success, and Mary quickly became known as one of the most talented young violinists in the world. Over the next few years, Mary continued to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. She also began recording albums, which were met with critical acclaim and helped to further establish her as a major force in the classical music world. In 2012, Mary was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. The award was a major milestone in Mary's career and helped to solidify her status as one of the most promising young musicians of her generation. In addition to her work as a soloist, Mary is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with some of the most renowned chamber ensembles in the world, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Throughout her career, Mary has remained dedicated to promoting classical music and inspiring young musicians. She has given masterclasses and workshops at schools and universities around the world, and has served as a mentor to many young musicians.
