Duo Gervasio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by two talented musicians, violinist Maria Gervasio and pianist Alessandro Gervasio. The duo has gained recognition for their exceptional performances and has become a prominent name in the classical music world. Maria Gervasio was born in Italy and began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Conservatory of Music in Bari, Italy, and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. Alessandro Gervasio, also born in Italy, began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Bari and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. The two musicians met while studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and quickly discovered their shared passion for classical music. They began performing together and soon realized that they had a unique chemistry that allowed them to create beautiful music together. In 2012, Maria and Alessandro officially formed Duo Gervasio and began performing together professionally. Their first major performance was at the prestigious Konzerthaus Berlin, where they received critical acclaim for their performance of Beethoven's "Kreutzer" Sonata. Since then, Duo Gervasio has performed at numerous venues and festivals around the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Rheingau Musik Festival, and the Festival de Música de Canarias. They have also performed with renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. One of the highlights of Duo Gervasio's career was their performance at the 2014 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. They were the only duo to be invited to perform at the competition and received high praise from the judges and audience alike. In addition to their performances, Duo Gervasio has also received numerous awards and accolades for their recordings. Their debut album, "Beethoven: The Complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano," was released in 2015 and received critical acclaim. The album was named "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone Magazine and was praised for its "impeccable technique and musicality." Duo Gervasio's second album, "Brahms: The Violin Sonatas," was released in 2018 and was also well-received. The album was named "Album of the Week" by Classic FM and was praised for its "passionate and sensitive playing." In addition to their performances and recordings, Duo Gervasio is also committed to music education. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians around the world and are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience with the next generation of musicians.
