Camerata Musica Limburg is a classical music ensemble based in the Limburg region of the Netherlands. The ensemble was founded in 1959 by a group of young musicians who were passionate about chamber music and wanted to bring it to a wider audience. The founding members of Camerata Musica Limburg were Jan Cober (clarinet), Joep van Leeuwen (violin), and Wim van den Berg (piano). They were soon joined by other musicians, including cellist Jo Dusseldorp and violist Jan van der Meer. Over the years, the ensemble has had many different members, but its core mission has remained the same: to perform chamber music at the highest level and to share it with as many people as possible. Camerata Musica Limburg has performed all over the world, including in Europe, Asia, and North America. The ensemble has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Mozart's Clarinet Quintet. One of the highlights of Camerata Musica Limburg's career was its performance at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. The ensemble was invited to perform at the opening ceremony, where they played a piece by Dutch composer Henk Badings. Camerata Musica Limburg has also won several awards over the years, including the prestigious Dutch Music Prize in 1991. This award is given to musicians who have made a significant contribution to the Dutch music scene. In addition to its performances, Camerata Musica Limburg is also committed to music education. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops to young musicians, and it has established a scholarship program to support talented young musicians in the Limburg region. Today, Camerata Musica Limburg continues to be one of the most respected and beloved chamber music ensembles in the Netherlands. Its members are dedicated to preserving the tradition of chamber music while also exploring new and innovative ways to share it with audiences around the world.More....
