Gil Sharone is a renowned drummer and percussionist in the world of classical music. Born on July 25, 1978, in Los Angeles, California, Sharone grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a singer. Sharone's interest in music began at a young age, and he started playing the drums when he was just six years old. Sharone's early musical education was heavily influenced by jazz and funk music. He studied with some of the best drummers in the world, including Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, and Dave Weckl. Sharone's talent and dedication to his craft quickly became apparent, and he began performing professionally while still in high school. After graduating from high school, Sharone attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. There, he honed his skills and expanded his musical horizons, studying a wide range of musical styles, including Latin, African, and Middle Eastern music. In 1999, Sharone joined the band Stolen Babies, a group that blended elements of metal, punk, and cabaret music. With Stolen Babies, Sharone gained a reputation as a dynamic and versatile drummer, capable of playing complex rhythms and incorporating a wide range of percussion instruments into his performances. In 2006, Sharone joined the band Dillinger Escape Plan, a group known for their intense and chaotic live shows. With Dillinger Escape Plan, Sharone pushed the boundaries of what was possible on the drums, incorporating elements of jazz, funk, and world music into his performances. Sharone's work with Dillinger Escape Plan earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. He was named "Best Drummer" in the 2008 Modern Drummer Readers' Poll, and his performances with the band were praised for their technical proficiency and creative flair. In addition to his work with Stolen Babies and Dillinger Escape Plan, Sharone has collaborated with a wide range of artists and musicians. He has performed with jazz legend Wayne Shorter, hip-hop artist Kool Keith, and metal band Marilyn Manson, among others. Sharone's versatility as a drummer and percussionist has also led him to work in film and television. He has contributed music to a number of movies and TV shows, including The Walking Dead, The Punisher, and The Twilight Zone. In 2019, Sharone released his first solo album, titled "Widow's Weeds."
