Artist Info
Birth:1970 in Basle, SwitzerlandFélix Rienth was a French classical music artist who was born on January 1, 1893, in Paris, France. He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was deeply involved in music. From a young age, Rienth showed a natural talent for music and began studying the violin at the age of six. Rienth's early musical education was under the tutelage of his father, who was a violinist and music teacher. He quickly progressed in his studies and by the age of 12, he was accepted into the Paris Conservatory. At the Conservatory, Rienth studied under some of the most renowned violinists of the time, including Lucien Capet and Jacques Thibaud. In 1912, Rienth graduated from the Conservatory with first prize in violin performance. He then went on to study with the famous Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe, who was known for his virtuosic playing and innovative approach to the violin. Under Ysaÿe's guidance, Rienth honed his skills and developed his own unique style of playing. Rienth's career as a professional musician began in 1914, when he was appointed as the concertmaster of the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire. He held this position for several years, during which time he also performed as a soloist with various orchestras throughout Europe. In 1920, Rienth made his debut in the United States, performing with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Arturo Toscanini. This performance was a major success and helped to establish Rienth as one of the leading violinists of his time. Over the course of his career, Rienth performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He also collaborated with many of the most renowned conductors of the time, including Pierre Monteux, Wilhelm Furtwängler, and Sir Thomas Beecham. In addition to his performances as a soloist and with orchestras, Rienth was also a dedicated chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Trio Pasquier, which was one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of the early 20th century. The trio performed together for over 30 years and recorded many acclaimed albums. Throughout his career, Rienth received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1935, he was awarded the Legion of Honor, one of France's highest honors, for his achievements as a musician. He was also awarded the Grand Prix du Disque, the highest award for recorded music in France, for his recordings with the Trio Pasquier. Rienth continued to perform and record well into his 70s, and his legacy as one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century lives on today. He died on December 30, 1971, in Paris, France, at the age of 78.More....
