Amy Yang is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1985, Yang began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in the Yewon School, a prestigious music academy in Seoul, where she received rigorous training in piano performance and music theory. As a young student, Yang showed a remarkable dedication to her craft, practicing for hours each day and immersing herself in the works of great composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. Her hard work paid off when she won first prize in the Korea National Music Competition at the age of nine, an achievement that marked the beginning of her career as a professional musician. In 1997, Yang moved to the United States to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, one of the world's most prestigious music conservatories. There, she studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky, who recognized her talent and helped her refine her technique and musical interpretation. Yang's time at Juilliard was marked by numerous accolades, including the Arthur Rubinstein Prize and the Gina Bachauer Scholarship. After graduating from Juilliard in 2004, Yang embarked on a career as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and collaborating with other renowned musicians. Her performances have been praised for their technical precision, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity, and she has been hailed as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. One of Yang's most notable performances came in 2005, when she made her debut with the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Lorin Maazel. The performance, which featured Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, was widely praised for its elegance and musicality, and marked a major milestone in Yang's career. Since then, Yang has continued to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also collaborated with other renowned musicians, including violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In addition to her work as a soloist and chamber musician, Yang is also a dedicated educator, and has taught at institutions such as the Juilliard School and the Mannes School of Music.
