Alexander Learmonth was born on May 12, 1985, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Learmonth showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Learmonth's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with renowned Scottish pianist, Murray McLachlan, at the age of six. Under McLachlan's tutelage, Learmonth quickly developed his skills and began performing in public at the age of eight. In 1996, Learmonth won the prestigious BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, becoming the youngest ever winner of the competition at the age of 11. This win catapulted him into the international spotlight and led to numerous performance opportunities around the world. Learmonth continued his musical education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist, Christopher Elton. After completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Learmonth embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist.
