He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and composer, Nadia Boulanger, at the age of 12. Boulanger recognized Henri's talent and became his mentor, guiding him through his musical education. Henri continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of Marguerite Long, a renowned French pianist. He also studied composition with Olivier Messiaen, a prominent composer of the 20th century. Henri's talent and dedication to his craft were evident, and he quickly became one of the top students at the conservatory. After completing his studies, Henri began performing in concerts throughout France and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented pianist and was praised for his technical skill and musicality. In 1950, he won the prestigious Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition, which helped to launch his career as a soloist. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Henri continued to perform in concerts and recitals throughout Europe and the United States. He also recorded several albums, including a series of recordings of the complete works of Chopin. In 1961, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of Chopin's complete works.
