Margherita Chiminelli was born on May 12, 1985, in Milan, Italy. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a pianist and her mother a singer. From a young age, Chiminelli showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano and singing. At the age of 14, Chiminelli was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, where she studied under the guidance of renowned vocal coach, Renata Scotto. During her time at the conservatory, Chiminelli honed her skills as a soprano and began to develop her own unique style. After graduating from the conservatory, Chiminelli began performing in various operas and concerts throughout Italy. Her breakthrough performance came in 2007, when she was cast as the lead in a production of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Her performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and she quickly became known as one of the most promising young sopranos in Italy. Over the next few years, Chiminelli continued to perform in operas and concerts throughout Italy and Europe. In 2010, she was invited to perform at the Salzburg Festival in Austria, where she received rave reviews for her performance in a production of Verdi's "La traviata." In 2012, Chiminelli made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, where she played the role of Gilda in Verdi's "Rigoletto." In 2011, she was awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is considered one of the highest honors in Italian music.
