Bishop Yvette A. Flunder is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the music industry. She was born on January 28, 1955, in San Francisco, California, and grew up in a musical family. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a singer, which influenced her love for music from a young age. Flunder began her music career as a gospel singer and pianist in the 1970s. She was a member of the gospel group, The Northern California State Choir, and later formed her own group, The City of Refuge Choir. Her music was inspired by her faith, and she used it as a tool to spread the message of love and acceptance. In the 1980s, Flunder expanded her music career by studying classical music at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. She earned a Master of Arts degree in musicology and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1991. Her education in classical music helped her to develop her skills as a composer and arranger. Flunder's music career reached new heights in the 1990s when she founded the City of Refuge United Church of Christ in San Francisco.
