VA Sofia Chamber Choir is a Bulgarian classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its beautiful harmonies and impeccable performances for over 30 years. The choir was founded in 1989 by Veneta Vicheva, a renowned Bulgarian conductor and music educator, who remains the choir's artistic director to this day. The ensemble is made up of 24 professional singers, all of whom have received extensive training in classical music and vocal performance. The choir's repertoire includes a wide range of music, from traditional Bulgarian folk songs to classical choral works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Brahms. Over the years, VA Sofia Chamber Choir has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Bulgaria and around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. The choir has also collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of VA Sofia Chamber Choir's career was their performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards, where they were nominated for Best Choral Performance for their recording of Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil. Although they did not win the award, the nomination was a testament to the choir's exceptional talent and dedication to their craft. In addition to their many performances and collaborations, VA Sofia Chamber Choir has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1995, they were awarded the Grand Prix at the International Choral Competition in Varna, Bulgaria, and in 2001, they received the prestigious Crystal Lyre award from the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers. Despite their many achievements, VA Sofia Chamber Choir remains committed to their mission of promoting Bulgarian choral music and preserving the country's rich cultural heritage. They continue to perform regularly both in Bulgaria and abroad, and their beautiful harmonies and impeccable performances continue to captivate audiences around the world.
