Paulo Mestre was born on May 15, 1985, in Lisbon, Portugal. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Paulo showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Paulo was enrolled in the National Conservatory of Lisbon, where he received formal training in classical piano. He quickly excelled in his studies and began performing in local concerts and competitions. In 2001, Paulo was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Emanuel Ax. He has recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's complete piano sonatas. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a major career in music. He has also been awarded the Gilmore Artist Award, the Arthur Rubinstein Prize, and the International Classical Music Award.
