Orchestra Sinfonica Nuova Cameristica di Milano is a classical music ensemble based in Milan, Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1997 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to create a new and innovative ensemble that would bring a fresh perspective to the world of classical music. The founding members of the orchestra were all graduates of the prestigious Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, and they quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting and dynamic new ensembles in Italy. The orchestra's name, Nuova Cameristica, reflects their commitment to chamber music and their desire to explore the rich and varied repertoire of classical music. Over the years, the orchestra has grown in size and stature, attracting some of the most talented musicians from Italy and around the world. Today, the orchestra is made up of over 50 musicians, including some of the most accomplished soloists and chamber musicians in Italy. One of the highlights of the orchestra's early years was their performance at the prestigious Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, in 1999. The festival, which was founded by the composer Gian Carlo Menotti, is one of the most important cultural events in Italy, and the orchestra's performance was widely praised for its energy, passion, and technical excellence. Since then, the orchestra has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in Italy and around the world, including the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and the Salzburg Festival in Austria. One of the orchestra's most notable achievements was their performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2005. The performance, which was conducted by the renowned conductor Riccardo Muti, was widely regarded as one of the most memorable and powerful performances of the work in recent years. In addition to their performances of the classical repertoire, the orchestra has also been committed to commissioning and performing new works by contemporary composers. One of their most notable collaborations was with the composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi, who wrote a new work for the orchestra in 2010. Over the years, the orchestra has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2003, they were awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is awarded annually by the Italian music critics' association to the best musical performances of the year. They have also received critical acclaim for their recordings of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and other classical composers.
