The quartet consists of four members: Tatsuki Narita (violin), Shirly Laub (violin), Tony Nys (viola), and François Deppe (cello). The ensemble has gained international recognition for their unique sound and interpretation of classical music. The founding members of ARTE Quartet met while studying at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a quartet. The ensemble's name, ARTE, is an acronym for "Art, Research, Technology, and Education," reflecting their commitment to exploring the intersection of music and technology. ARTE Quartet's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as contemporary composers like Philip Glass and Arvo Pärt. The quartet is known for their dynamic performances, which showcase their technical skill and emotional depth. One of ARTE Quartet's most notable performances was at the 2006 Queen Elisabeth Competition, where they were awarded the "Prix Musiq'3" for their interpretation of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14. The quartet has also performed at prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. In addition to their performances, ARTE Quartet is committed to music education and outreach. They have collaborated with schools and community organizations to bring classical music to a wider audience. The quartet has also worked with composers to commission new works and expand the repertoire for string quartets. ARTE Quartet has released several albums, including "Beethoven: The Late String Quartets" and "Glass: String Quartets Nos. 1-4." Their recordings have received critical acclaim and have been featured on radio programs around the world. Despite their success, ARTE Quartet remains dedicated to their craft and to each other. They continue to explore new ways to interpret classical music and to share their passion with audiences around the world.
