Zanta Hofmeyr is a renowned classical music artist from South Africa. She was born on 22nd August 1965 in Cape Town, South Africa. Her parents were both musicians, and they played a significant role in shaping her musical career. Hofmeyr started playing the violin at the age of four, and by the time she was six, she had already performed in public. She attended the University of Cape Town, where she studied music and obtained a Bachelor of Music degree. She later pursued a Master of Music degree at the same institution. Hofmeyr's talent and dedication to music saw her win several awards and accolades throughout her career. In 1987, she won the prestigious SAMRO Overseas Scholarship, which enabled her to study at the Royal College of Music in London. She also won the UNISA National String Competition in 1988 and the ATKV Muziq Competition in 1990. Hofmeyr's career as a professional musician began in 1989 when she joined the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra as a first violinist. She later became the orchestra's concertmaster, a position she held for several years.
