Yip's Children's Choir is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their angelic voices for over 40 years. Founded in 1973 by the late Yip Wai-hong, the choir has become one of the most respected and celebrated children's choirs in the world. Yip Wai-hong was a music teacher who had a passion for choral music. He believed that children had a unique ability to sing with purity and innocence, and he wanted to create a choir that would showcase their talents. He started the choir with just a handful of students, but it quickly grew in popularity as more and more parents saw the benefits of their children being part of such a prestigious ensemble. The choir's main members are children between the ages of 6 and 18, who are selected through a rigorous audition process. The choir has a reputation for excellence, and only the most talented and dedicated singers are chosen to be part of the ensemble. The choir is made up of both boys and girls, and they sing a wide range of classical music, from traditional choral pieces to contemporary works. Over the years, Yip's Children's Choir has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. They have also performed for many high-profile events, including the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 1997 handover ceremony of Hong Kong. One of the highlights of the choir's career was their performance at the 1991 World Choral Symposium in Vancouver, Canada. They were the only children's choir invited to perform at the event, and they received a standing ovation from the audience. The choir also won the top prize at the 1992 International Choral Competition in Tolosa, Spain, cementing their reputation as one of the best children's choirs in the world. In addition to their performances, Yip's Children's Choir has also released several albums, including "Voices of Children" and "Songs of Joy and Peace." These albums feature some of the choir's most popular songs, and they have been well-received by both critics and audiences alike. Despite the success of the choir, Yip Wai-hong remained humble and dedicated to his students.
